It just opened in April 2024! I stayed at OMO5 Tokyo Gotanda, one of the brands of Hoshino Resorts. Despite being right in the middle of the city with easy access from Shinagawa, the view from the hotel room is stunning! The hotel offers various amenities that are great for families with small children, such as tatami rooms where you can take off your shoes and relax, and bathrooms with a washing area. 💕
The shared spaces include a spacious lounge and a sky garden, and there is a stylish food court and café on the first floor. Even though it’s a hotel in the heart of the city, you can spend a relaxing time inside the hotel. 🤗

About Hotel
“OMO,” one of the brands of Hoshino Resorts, is an urban “city-center” hotel. It features cozy guest rooms and shared spaces called “OMO Base.” OMO hotels are categorized by numbers 1, 3, 5, and 7, with higher numbers offering more full-service experiences. This time, I stayed at OMO5, which falls under the “boutique hotel” category, so the hotel includes facilities such as cafes.
Address: 8-4-13 Nishi-Gotanda, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo 141-0031
6-minute walk from Gotanda Station, and 1-minute walk from Osaki-Hirokoji Station.

Check-out: Until 11:00

It was a hotel where you can have fun with friends, spend time with family, or stay alone for a workcation. It seems enjoyable in any situation. ✨
Hotel Stay Review
Access to Hotel
You can reach OMO5 Gotanda in just under a 10-minute walk from Gotanda Station on the JR Yamanote Line and Toei Asakusa Line, even with a 3-year-old child. Along the way, there are many fun shops, and it’s enjoyable to walk through the area, noticing both new changes and familiar spots from when we first got married. 😊
While walking, we discovered the JP Building in Gotanda, which had just held its grand opening on April 26, 2024.
OMO5 is located on the 14th floor and above of this building. Upon entering through the dedicated entrance, you are greeted by Tokyo-style neon lights.
Take the elevator to the lobby. The high ceilings and large windows create an amazing sense of openness! This floor has a café, lounge, and a sky garden.
Check-in
Check-in is done by scanning the QR code you received with your reservation at a kiosk. It’s simple! Additionally, hotel staff are on-site, so you can ask for help in case you need any assistance. 🎶
Coin-Locker
There are lots of big and small size coin locker next to the reception. We can use it for free!
Lounge “OMO-Base”
There was a pretty lounge named “OMO-Base”♡
There are colorful and cute sofas with travel books placed on them, perfect for relaxing a bit. ☺️ To the immediate left, there’s a large glass window that reveals a beautiful sky garden with a fantastic view. ✨
There was also a “Neighborhood Map,” a feature of OMO! This time, I couldn’t explore it in detail since I had already made reservations at other places, but I’d love to use it to choose some spots next time.
Floating Garden
There was a “floating garden” outside of the lounge.
There is also a water feature, and even though it was the middle of summer, people were relaxing on the cushions placed there during the cooler morning and evening hours. It’s very stylish!
At night, it’s illuminated, offering views of the night skyline and starlit sky. We didn’t visit it this time as we were with kids, but it seems like it would be great for a stay with friends!
OMO CAFE
OMO Cafe provides breakfast, lunch and cafe menu.
The colorful interior is very stylish!! During breakfast hours, it’s exclusive to hotel guests, but it seems to be open to everyone after 11 AM. It was usually quite empty, so it feels like a bit of a hidden gem.
The breakfast consisted of over ten types of rice balls made from carefully selected ingredients from across the country, along with a salad bar and free drinks. ☺️
This cafe also provides alcohol, like craft beer, wine and cocktails.
Room tour
Our room located at 17th floor. We stayed at “Twin room”.
Incredibly, the rooms at OMO5 Gotanda are tatami rooms, which is great for families with children. 🤗 You take off your shoes at the entrance, so it’s comfortable and safe for families with small kids who don’t need to wear slippers. 💕
In the raised area, there are two mattresses. Since there are four of us, we pushed them together to sleep. The small step makes it safe even if someone falls off. 🎶
At the back of the room, there is a large sofa that could also serve as a daybed. You get a great view of Tokyo from here! Our room faced west, so we had a view of the Meguro area.
The room also has a small refrigerator. The mugs are cute, OMO5 originals, and the glasses were very nice as well. 🎶
Amenity, Complementary
There is amenity corner next to reception, so we can bring what we need, like tooth brush, hair brush and hair band etc.
I really recommend OMO5 original night wear💚 It’s really comfy!!
There is laundry room at 15th floor, and we could find water server and microwave there.
Inside the room’s refrigerator, there is a jar (center of the photo) for keeping water, so we could chill it in there. ☺️ It was great not having to go out to buy water.
Laundry
For long-term travelers like us or those traveling with children, having a coin-operated laundry is great. This hotel also has one, with washing costing 400 yen per load and drying 100 yen for every 10 minutes (if I remember correctly). The washing machine and dryer are separate, which means the process is quicker, and the dryer is powerful, so it’s less likely that you’ll find it full and unavailable. Payment can be made cashlessly using QR codes, which is convenient.
Gym
There is gym space at the 15th floor♬

With just two stops to Shinagawa Station and three stops to Shibuya Station, this location offers excellent access to Narita and Haneda airports, making it a convenient connection to all of Japan. In Gotanda, known as the ‘holy land of meat,’ you can enjoy a range of dining options from affordable meals to high-end course meals, with many renowned restaurants representing Tokyo’s culinary scene.
First of all, it’s very close to Gotanda Station on the JR Yamanote Line! Osaki Hirokoji Station is even closer! Whether you’re taking a bus to Shibuya or Nakameguro or catching a train to Ginza, it’s very convenient.
Moreover, there is an abundance of dining options, so you’ll never have trouble finding delicious food.
After checking out, I went to Shinagawa Station, which is also just two stations away, and it’s close enough to reach by taxi, making it perfect for getting to the airport or catching express trains.
Gotanda-Yokocho
“Gotanda Yokocho”, which recently opened on the first floor of the JP Building, is a food court featuring a variety of dining options. In addition to the seats provided in front of each shop, there are shared tables where you can bring food from any of the vendors. This setup allows you to order from different restaurants and enjoy your meals together at the same table.
There are also some coffee shop.
There were also kids’ chairs available 😊
The new hotel by Hoshino Resorts had a stylish and distinctly Japanese feel everywhere, making our stay very comfortable 🥹 Since children up to 6 years old can stay for free when sharing a bed, it might actually be more affordable compared to other hotels ✨
Hotel Review
Beautiful hotel, the layout of our room was very good, the beds comfortable, nice bathroom, the view excellent. Staff were kind and helpful. We had the hotel breakfast only once, but it was very good and the view from the breakfast room is second to none. Beautifully designed hotel and the roof garden is amazing for the evenings

This hotel had multiple restaurants on the first floor which was very convenient. It even has its own cafeteria on the 14th floor (reception area). The location is also close enough to 2 subway stations. The hotel itself looks pretty clean and new. The staff was very helpful and nice. The view from the room, overlooking the city, was nice as well. No complaints.

The location at Gotanda is new and has a spacious lobby. The rooms were quiet with great views of Tokyo. The hotel terrace is a huge bonus. The hotel seems to be good for families, as I noticed quite a few of them there. There’s a popular food court at the base of the building. Gotanda is not your typical touristy area which is good for a unique experience.

I initially thought Hoshino Resorts would be expensive, but it turned out to be quite affordable. Except for weekends and public holidays, it was just over 10,000 yen per person per night, and children under 6 stay for free. For our family, it ended up being cheaper than staying at other business hotels 👏 I’d love to stay there again before my eldest daughter turns 7!
